The Australian Shakespeare Festival, the major new Australian multi-arts festival, will have its inaugural season in Hobart this year. Six streams of Shakespeare-infused arts will offer over 10,000 seats to audiences throughout the three-week festival program, encompassing Play, Opera, Revue, Film, Music and Fringe events and performances.
Visitors to the Australian Shakespeare Festival will experience world-class productions in rotating repertory of William Shakespeare’s play, a Comedy of Errors, the first all-professional production in Australia of Ralph Vaughan Williams comic opera, Sir John in Love (based on The Merry Wives of Windsor) and Christopher Luscombe and Malcolm McKee’s irreverently funny and irrepressible paean to the Bard: The Shakespeare Revue, transformed into a magical world of theatre for theatregoers of all ages.
